The scholarship is awarded to a sophomore CBE student eligible for financial aid, and is funded annually through their senior year by Lehigh alumni. The rising cost of higher education challenges and constrains many students who seek a college degree. The contributors of the CBE Scholarship fully understand these challenges. The CBE Scholarship is not only an acknowledgment of the necessity to provide affordable education, but also a recognition that alumni are dedicated to the CBE mission as it relates to the preparation of students for post graduation.

Simone Cotton '17 is the recipient of the College of Business & Economics Group Scholarship. She is pictured (middle) with Joe Ianole '05 and Amanda Ianoale at the Group Scholarship breakfast reception. Simone was asked a few questions to reflect on her time at Lehigh and the scholarship:

"Words cannot express how thankful I truly am for your support! This scholarship has been a strong reminder to me that there are teams of people on and off campus, including family and friends, who are striving for me to succeed. They can only push me so far because the majority of the work is placed onto me. This has been the push I need to stay on top of my work and envision my future goals within the College of Business and Economics and beyond Lehigh University. I am truly honored that I was chosen for this scholarship and I will be working efficiently to completing my degree."

"Since stepping on campus I knew that I wanted to be involved. Last year, I ran for Class Officer, was the VP of Public Relations for the Art club, and made strong friends with staff and faculty members. This year, I am a Gryphon for First-Year students and a Camp Hawk Counselor. Both of these opportunities have allowed me to stay involved at Lehigh and work with students in their First Year. I know how important a first year is to college students and I am so grateful that I have an impact on many students. I love that I can call Lehigh my home. Walking around campus and seeing at least ten people who I know, talking with each of them makes me feel that I am making the right steps to connecting with others and making an impact. I feel that I am accepted on campus and the friends that I have made are great resources who help me stay on track with both academics and extracurriculars."
