Psi Upsilon is proud to provide a scholarship in memory of Ryan Vernooy, class of 2009. The scholarship will support an undergraduate member of Psi U with $2500 per year until graduation. Recipients chosen will reflect the characteristics that Ryan embodied in the Psi U brotherhood and the larger Lehigh and Bethlehem communities: Leadership and Service. Ryan was elected to numerous positions in the house by his brothers including President. He also initiated and led numerous house improvement projects to make the chapter house a home for the brothers. Away from the chapter house Ryan served with Lehigh EMS and volunteered at a local firehouse. This scholarship has been established in his name to celebrate the continued excellence of brothers who both lead and serve in their community.

Matthew Cossel '17 is the recipient of the Ryan VerNooy '09 Memorial Group Scholarship. He is pictured below with Jeremy McKeon '08, John Tamtelen '09, and Stu Schnabolk '09 at the Group Scholarship breakfast reception. Matthew was asked a few questions to reflect on his time at Lehigh and the scholarship.

"Your scholarship has made the greatest of difference for my future as a student and as an adult. With your help, my hopes for a secondary education are coming to fruition, something that wasn't always guaranteed. This makes me so excited because as the semesters finish and I make my way through the ranks as an undergraduate student here at Lehigh, the closer I am to making my dream a reality. You as a donor are helping this humble student to achieve his lifelong dream of making the world a better place and for that, I thank you"

"I originally chose Lehigh because of the Global Studies major and the amazing professors in the major that I met during my visit to the campus the November of my High School senior year but I cannot stress enough how amazing nearly every Professor, Graduate Student and Undergraduate Student has been that I have met here. This entire Campus is just full of incredible people. If you stop any student at Lehigh and ask them to talk about themselves, you're going to be amazed by all that they accomplish on a daily basis and that's what makes me love this place so much. With buildings such as Linderman and Coppee Hall, the beauty of campus is just an added bonus."
